Hi everyone! First off, a huge thank you once again for joining Zerosum! Your characters and writing have made this place even better than I ever imagined. Beth created Zerosum for everyone to come together and write, and I didn't think it'd be THIS much fun! So thank you again.
We will be adding a few things to our rules, so I'd like to go ahead and let the current members know
1A. Please respond to your threads within 72 hours of a response by another character - Unless you have put up an absence thread explaining why it would take longer or you are waiting on someone else in a multi-character story line, please try to get your responses up quickly. The best way for guests to want to join is to see activity! If you have hit a block, or if after 72 hours another character has not responded go ahead and continue on without them, or let us know about the block and we will try to throw in a filler thread of some kind as a bystander or something. We will also send a note to the character that has not responded so they know and do not feel they are being knocked out.
1B. Please make sure to log in within a seven day period, or post an absence thread - After seven days you'll get a "nudge" e-mail from me just stating we haven't seen you in a week! Then you'll have 72 hours to log on, and either post an absence thread or respond to your writing threads. This is just a courtesy to those you're writing with, that way they know you haven't abandoned the story lines. Logging on then off and not participating does not count. Also, logging on and not responding to your threads but playing games won't count . Come on, it's a writing site! This may change later, we are just trying to keep the inactivity to a minimum. You don't want to log on three weeks later and find out new members started threads with your character and you weren't there!
2. Please create your applications within 24 hours of joining the site, and complete within 72 hours. - This really applies to those just joining but if you intend to add a new character, please try to have your completed application done within 72 hours of starting a Work In Progress (WIP) especially if it is a canon character. When you start a WIP, it reserves the canon character chosen. But if you never finish and someone else shows up wanting them, we may lose that new member and later it is decided you changed your mind so they could have taken on the CC.
3. Please keep up with your social media/journal outlets. - I know it sounds strange, but one of the first things I saw when I joined was the "Facebook" thread. Now that Beth and the Scribe Virgin have added on the Facebook style pages they look great, and again this would show a lot of activity for guests. Also write journal entries as your characters! Can you imagine how a BDB fan would react to seeing a "personal" journal entry by Zsadist? Or Wrath? So try to keep up with them! This will also let you really flow with your character's personality and let you have fun without waiting on a response!
4. Please play on the site! - We have a games thread, which are open for new games to be added at any time! You can start your own, or join in on what's there! The more activity, the more members, the more characters, and more fun! You can even respond to other people's Facebook pages, poke them, send pictures, etc. You can "send texts" on their cell phones, just have fun!
You all are fantastic writers, I personally get excited seeing a response from Rhage or Zsadist because the writers behind the characters are incredible to read. So these are just partial rules/partial suggestions so we can get more people and have more story lines! A lot of this is more for new members coming in, but we always want everyone to feel included and no one be "left in the dark".
If you have any questions please contact Rhaine or Beth and we will be happy to answer!
