OVERALL APPEARANCE:
Marissa is the race's great beauty. Her eyes are described as being the light blue of sea glass, her hair long (waist length) and blonde. Marissa has a pure and innocent look about her, a quality that helps her future hellren Butch to feel better about himself the first time they meet. This female of worth, while tall, is very thin and delicate in her appearance. Her skin is a beautiful alabaster, blemish free and soft.

STRENGTHS: Marissa's biggest strength was finding the ability to stand back from the situation she was in, think of how she could make it work in her advantage and follow through with it. 
WEAKNESSES: Marissa is sometimes slow to speak up for herself. It took her a while to come out of her shell and realize that her worth was in more than who she was mated to and what bloodline she was from. She often works herself up too much and therefore suffers from anxiety attacks.
WANTS: Marissa wants many things, but above all, she wishes to: make her hellren happy, maintain a close, healthy relationship with her brother and have young someday. 
FEARS: Marissa fears losing Butch and ending up as one of the females she works to help at Safe Place.
OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Marissa is a kind and caring person. A female that was always one to do what she was told and afraid to make waves, she comes out of her shell the closer she grows to Butch and the farther she moves from her younger brother Havers. Marissa is prone to anxiety attacks and often thinks down on herself, believing that no male could want her due to the unresponsiveness from Rehvenge and Wrath whenever she fed from them. Being with the Dhestroyer helps to quell these feelings, but if she's not careful, they can creep back up and rear their ugly heads once again.

HISTORY: Mated to Wrath, the King for over 300 years, Marissa had a difficult start to her life as a vampire. Her hellren refused to touch her in any loving way and kept their interactions to a minimum, often only coming to see her when one of them needed to feed. When Beth came along and Wrath fell in love with her, Marissa found it easy to let them be happy - a big part of that due to her instant attraction to the human cop Butch O'Neal. Butch and Marissa met when he came to the mansion with Beth during her transition. This had unfortunate side effects for Marissa, however, as the glymera began treating her as an outcast, an unwanted pariah. It seemed for a long time that Marissa would remain the unmated newling, the shellan that the Blind King cast aside and nothing more.

Thankfully, Marissa became Butch's light, one of his sole reasons for what he did with the Brotherhood - one of those things being risking his life in order to force the transition to vampire. This allowed Butch to join the fight against the Lessening society and also stay with and protect Marissa in ways that he never would have been able to as a human. 

Marissa truly blossoms when it comes to helping others out. A helper at Safe Place, Marissa works hard to help battered and widowed females and their young survive in a dangerous world that has been torn apart due to the battle between the vampire race and the lessers.
